Therapists for college students near Los Angeles, CA
As a BIPOC and LGBTQ affirming practice, we treat trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and other mental health issues from a culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed perspective. We understand that having a therapist who lived it themselves is so much more important than having one who just read about it in a book. That's why we emphasize culture in our practice of mental health and always welcome the whole client. We primarily use CBT and EMDR as models for therapy. CBT is great for understanding how your unhelpful thoughts and hurt feelings lead to negative behaviors so we can replace them with positive ones. EMDR holds a mirror up to you and your emotional and physical experiences so you can have more self-awareness and answer your own questions. Our clients come to us when they need to feel like themselves again, set better boundaries, and end toxic relationships; and we're looking forward to helping you with the same issues. We will walk with you on your path to healing. It's easy to get lost on that path. Luckily, our experience and compassion are the GPS!
Welcome! Therapy isn't for broken people, it's for anyone wishing to be happy and function at their best. I help students who are anxious, who have a hard time staying focused and grounded, and who worry a lot, to understand their mind and emotions in ways that help everything make sense and reduce their symptoms to a place where they feel in control. I look forward to helping you and having some fun along the way!
Our clients come from all walks of life, but tend to have one thing in common when they reach out to set up an initial appointment: they’ve realized they want more out of life. More joy, more freedom, greater emotional and relational health – in short, a more abundant life. In your first few sessions with us, it’s typical to breathe a sigh of relief – as you realize that there’s finally a space where you can be completely, authentically yourself. We start by processing your story – where you’ve been, where you are now, where you want to be. Stephen Covey writes that “to touch the soul of another human being is to walk on holy ground.” Being invited to be a witness to your story – in all the pains and triumphs and tragedies and victories – this is not an honor I take lightly. As our work together progresses, we unpack what hasn’t been working – self-defeating beliefs, unprocessed events and emotions, stale relational patterns… and we explore and process and practice new ways of being. Over time, the “ah ha” moments start to add up into the “I can’t believe how far I’ve come” moments as we reflect on your journey toward healing and abundance.

We believe college students deserve mental health treatment options that work with their collegiate lifestyle. Students in need of support can choose from our in-person and virtual Intensive Outpatient Programs for mental health or substance use treatment, available to all young adults in California on a college track. Hi! I'm Laura. I work with folks from all walks of life who are looking to build (or re-build) their connection to themselves and others. My clients tend to struggle with anxiety, people-pleasing, self-worth, perfectionism, exploring their identities, attachment trauma, and relationship issues. I work within an intersectional perspective to cultivate a space that is inclusive and welcoming to all so my clients can feel safe to embrace vulnerability and explore themselves deeply. If you decide to work with me, we'll examine parts of your past, challenges in the present, and hopes for the future while honoring your intersecting identities and natural strengths. I'll hold space for you to cry, vent, make jokes, or swear — while helping you to deconstruct unhelpful patterns, dismantle perfectionism, set healthier boundaries, heal past wounds, and embrace your most authentic self. My approach is modern and eclectic, integrating EMDR, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and narrative techniques with psychodynamic, feminist, existential, and humanistic theories. This means I draw from multiple modalities to personalize your care based on your needs. Through both research-based techniques and being a real + approachable human, my goal is to help you find clarity and healing while creating meaningful and sustainable change.
Let’s be real. Therapy isn’t just for when everything’s falling apart, it’s for when you’re tired of pretending you’re fine. I work with students who overthink, feel all over the place, or feel disconnected from themselves. We cut through the noise and get to what’s actually going on, using tools like CBT and a grounded, real-talk approach. I specialize in supporting first-gen and international students navigating culture shifts, identity questions, and the pressure to keep it all together. You don’t have to do it alone, and yes, we’ll probably laugh along the way.

My work is collaborative, conversational and client-centered. Your goals are my goals, and understanding the values beneath those goals often drives my curiosity. Sometimes it can feel like different parts of us want different things or are even in conflict with each other. Understanding how to negotiate with these different parts - and to honor how and why they came to be - can help us find the agency to live lives of integrity, freedom, meaning, and connection.
