I believe in a collaborative healing approach. Together, we identify areas of concern and develop strategies for change. I also believe in exploring the underlying causes of our struggles. My approach is varied, taking and blending techniques from a variety of sources, rather than relying on a single system of intervention. I strive to create a safe environment for my clients to explore their world in an authentic way. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Colorado. Individual Therapy - Recognizing the need for change can be exciting. The path forward is sometimes unclear, and at times, overwhelming. Together, we will develop a plan for the change you desire. Over time, this change can become long-lasting, and transformative. Couples Counseling - We all bring our personal history and experience to relationship. I believe that sharing this story with your partner in different ways can reveal a deeper level of understanding and intimacy. A new way of relating announces itself; revealing entirely new possibilities in your relationship.

Hey there! I am so glad you're here. When I was growing up, I quickly learned that there were few places I could be truly myself and accepted just as I am. As a therapist, I've discovered many of us share that same story. We learn to conform and perform in response to the pressure of our world telling us who to be, and we are left confused, ashamed, and exhausted when it becomes too much to maintain as adults. In my work with clients, I offer space for you to be exactly who you are, wherever you're at, so that together, we can discover a life that feels good and enjoyable to live, based on your most authentic values and desires. In my practice, I work with members of the LGBTQ+ community, those struggling with body image and disordered eating, survivors of bullying, and folks wrestling with religious trauma. Together, we will explore your unique goals, the pain and behaviors that may be holding you back, and how to create satisfying relationships, both with others and yourself. It is a brave first step to reach out for support when you need it, especially when life feels difficult, and I would be honored to hear your story and explore working with you toward a greater sense of worth and hope. You can contact me through my website or via phone call/ text, and I will respond in 1-2 business days. I look forward to hearing from you!
At The Patterson Center for Resiliency, we believe that nobody gets out of this life for free. All people are capable of rising from the ashes when given the right tools and support to do so. We are here to walk alongside you on your healing journey. You deserve a safe, caring, and non-judgmental place to become your best self. We treat both children (12+) and adults, individuals and families. We are LGTBQIA+ affirming. We use a strengths-based approach, believing that all people have inherent positive qualities and that all people are doing the best they can with the tools and understanding that they have.
A lot of people say they knew at a young age they would be a therapist, but that wasnât me. I grew up in a military family and thought I would continue that tradition and be a stay-at-home mom. Instead, I found myself in a journalism career and a marriage I didnât like. Starting over after 30, I chose to return to school and pursue a degree in social work. Since then, Iâve worked with the military, in inpatient facilities, and in outpatient care. I love working with women who find themselves âoutside the boxâ when it comes to societal expectations (child-free/childless, unmarried, or just a-plain-olâ rebel). I love to focus on resiliency, self-improvement/self-esteem, personal growth, and even a bit of spirituality (if that's your thing). I'm a very laid-back, nontraditional therapist. I believe you are the expert in your own life and, sometimes, we just need some guidance or permission to do the things we know we need to do. I don't assign homework cause, frankly, I wouldn't do it if I were in your shoes, but I will suggest some tasks or actions that may be something to focus on between sessions. I also expect clients to show up with a discussion topic or something to start us off with; again, the time is yours to use as you feel best. I have very eclectic interests. Two things that are very important to me are spirituality and non-traditional relationships. I feel both have their own challenges and prejudices to overcome. I'm always looking for ways to include and incorporate my client's spiritual beliefs (if they choose to share) into sessions and help them build a strong foundation. Nontraditional relationships (including kink dynamics) can be a challenge to bring to therapy as there's often a perceived level of judgmentânot here! I celebrate however your relationship looks and work to help you create the most nurturing and healthy relationship however that looks. One of my core values is curiosity, so I love it when I get to learn a little something from my clients. Having grown up in a military family that moved every three years like clockwork, learning about people and cultures has been a huge part of my life. I encourage my clients to practice showing and embodying their authenticity with me so they may go out into the world more confidently. I believe we all have something beautiful to share and learn from each other and I encourage those I work with to explore that on a deeper level.

I am a sex-positive, polyamory-affirming, and kink-informed therapist. I draw from an eclectic knowledge base that includes queer theory, disability justice, anti-racism, intersectionality, and fat liberation. My clinical perspective is influenced by attachment theory, humanistic theory, and systems theory. I have been trained in many evidence-based modalities, such as ACT, CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and others. I do not believe that anyone can truly provide therapy from an objective lens and welcome your questions about how my training and lived experience inform the way we interact. I approach therapy from a relational, strengths-based, and person-centered lens. This means I will tailor our therapeutic work to your specific goals and strengths, allowing you to lead as the expert of your own experiences. I do not incorporate any particular structure into sessions and allow you to guide us to what feels relevant to you in the moment. My clients meet with me at all types of frequencies from twice weekly to once a month. This depends on the intensity of your mental health challenges, my current openings, and your processing style.
If youâve landed here you are probably seeking connection, and hope to find the right professional to support you. Something has gotten in the way, or youâve lost your way to a life that is rich and meaningful. It may be about fractured relationship, debilitating emotional struggles, over-reliance on a substance, the grip of social media, the persistence of trauma, or elusive life balance. Or you may wish to deepen progress youâve already made in making a life worth living. I offer the wisdom and skills that come from over 30 years working in mental health. My 20+ years as a licensed therapist have included direct work with people of all ages and in all combinations, often as I also served in leadership positions in residential programs. My primary approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), including ACT for Trauma. Depending on what is useful, I weave elements of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. The work I do is informed by Buddhist Psychology, and often includes guidance in the use of specific meditation techniques to bring clarity and growth. My own life has been enriched by my experience as a person in long-term recovery, my dedicated mindfulness/meditation practice, and my immersion in the outdoors wherever my travels take me.
Sometimes we face challenges that seem insurmountable, leaving us feeling stuck and hopeless. Therapy can provide the support necessary to overcome hardship and help us take steps toward happiness and fulfillment. As your therapist, I believe that you have the resiliency required to overcome life's toughest challenges. No one should have to trudge alone through trying times. I look forward to walking with you on your journey! I specialize in grief and loss counseling, but also help individuals cope with and manage depression, anxiety, mood swings, self-esteem, and relationship issues. I use a variety of creative trauma-informed techniques to tap into your innate strengths, develop solutions, and make moves toward the summit of well-being. My main clientele are teens and young adults, and I truly enjoy working with these populations! Along with traditional talk therapy I use art, play, visual journaling, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients get "unstuck" and feel in charge of their emotions and their lives.
I identify as a Togolese immigrant, daughter, sister, fur-mom, and wife in an interracial marriage. These identities influence how I show up as a therapist and constantly evolve each day. The challenges I have faced have given me both the insight and desire to work with individuals, couples, and families through their hurdles and to help them find what is and isnât their story. I believe in the idea of assisting individuals, couples & families of different backgrounds to find their path instead of feeling stuck and tied down to societal expectations or their past maladaptive patterns. Due to the unique makeup of our world, I use an integrative approach with my clients; this allows me to use modalities that best suit the need of my clients. I value providing warmth, kindness, empathy, and directness when needed. I hope this little bio reflects my passion for working with humans of all different backgrounds and the depth of sacredness I hold for being a part of your stories.
