Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
My goal for therapy is to work towards helping my clients find the strength and resilience needed to get through what life brings to the table. I am a certified EMDR therapist, though I use multiple therapeutic approaches with each client and tailor therapy to each individual's needs. I take great pride in building a strong therapeutic relationship with the clients I see, as I believe that is the foundation of therapy! I have experience working with adolescents, young adults, adults, and families as a whole. I love watching people grow throughout the therapeutic process, whether that entails mending strained relationships, working through trauma(s), embarking on a new journey, or finding personal strength. My passion to help others is what motivates me daily. It may be nerve wracking, overwhelming, and/or slightly uncomfortable, but just know that I am here to help, however I can. It can seem like a challenge to find a good therapist, but it is absolutely worth it to push forward until you find the best fit for you. I am licensed in New York, Colorado, Nevada, Florida, and South Carolina. Please note: I am not paneled with any insurance companies in Colorado, Florida, Nevada, or South Carolina.
Do you long for more contentment and aliveness? Do you often feel like you’re too much or not enough? Do you wonder if you'll ever be able to create a life that feels good to you? What if these thoughts and feelings are not a problem but the trail that leads you to the life you imagine is possible? A life that feels deeply lived and rich with meaning. With great curiosity and care, I will accompany you as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together we’ll create permission for you to see, feel, and know yourself in new ways. I work with many college students who are needing some support, guidance, and tools that can help them navigate their current life situation. I personally understand, from my own experience at college, some of the challenges and difficulties that can arise, so there is a lot of compassion and understanding for what you may be experiencing. I also have experience working with local students at CU. College can be exciting, fresh, and new. At the same, it puts us in completely new surroundings and situations. Overwhelm is natural. To any student who is considering therapy, I hope you know that overwhelm doesn't mean that something has gone wrong. It's normal when there are so many big changes taking place. My job is primarily to listen to you, and to really try to understand things from your perspective. This in itself is quite relieving: to be heard, seen, and understood. There's no reason for you to feel completely alone and isolated in your experience. Above all, you will find a supportive space in my practice for you to be at ease and be yourself. There are many wonderful counselors out there, and many not-so-good ones. My strong advice to you is to find a therapist who you really like, and don't stop looking for one until you find them. Before and during my own college experience, I had visited several counselors who I didn't have a real connection with. It wasn't until I was 22 that I found a counselor who I really connected with. Counseling should be a very positive experience. It is a huge resource in life. Trust yourself about what feels good to you - and go for it!

College can be a scary, stressful time for anyone, especially people who are struggling with complex feelings and situations outside of school. If you are someone who is trying to process a complex family dynamic, trying to cope with feelings of anxiety or depression, juggling your responsibilities with the demands of a chronic illness, or trying to process any form of grief or loss, I may be able to help! I utilize motivational interviewing and a strengths-based, person-centered approach with all of my clients, and further tailor the treatment plan to best fit your unique goals. By working together we can identify your strengths and I can provide you with tools to best use them. I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) working under the supervision of Haley Lafferty, LCSW. I am LGBTQ+ identifying and affirming, and offer both individual and couples therapy.

I believe being a student and learning is an opportunity, and sometimes having a consistent therapist alongside can make the difference and help you get the most out of the opportunity. Being in school is not a singular thing, it’s not just about being the student in class who does assignments and gets the grade. In addition to being a student, there is one’s mental, physical, and emotional health, there are often bills to pay, and often the needs of others to meet. There are many other parts of ourselves and our lives that intersect with and function together with being in school. It can be overwhelming. It can be an adjustment. Transitions are big and important. There are our lives both in and out of school. Students are often also family members, caregivers, working individuals, or living with loss, trauma, depression, stress, or a medical illness. Students also learn differently, including some with accommodations for success. Some students find they need to confront an overwhelming need for perfection, or perhaps one is facing a particular challenge that is important to look at rather than look away. Therapy can be helpful when you are in school. I like to meet a client where they are at and begin by understanding you. I offer my warmth, and capacity to listen and to hold space even when the workable feels unworkable. I offer my experience and knowledge in counseling and in the creative art therapies, and hold value in an inclusive and affirmative lens. I enjoy working with students in higher education, meeting them in the places where school intersects with other parts of self that must be given care and attention, or to look more closely at or develop one’s career journey. I employ both talk therapy and the use of creative, expressive processes such as movement, poetry, art, music, story, and metaphor. The work is collaborative between counselor and client, being open about therapy goals and progress. I place value on your inherent strengths, and believe that we all hold motivation and an innate capacity to heal and be the very best versions of ourselves. These days, students face difficult decisions and life situations and must navigate complicated futures and relationships. I specialize in working with young people who are struggling with these things and want to find better ways to cope. Frequently, I see students who are good at solving complex problems. On the other side of this advantage, they sometimes suffer from perfectionism, anxiety, depression, or relationship problems. When addressed, these conditions can be alleviated. I provide an easy space to talk together about the things that you're up against -- and you'll not be alone with it. Your/our work in this way will alleviate distress, practically and emotionally. I no longer accept insurance, so our work together is completely private. If any of this resonates, I'd be happy to chat and see what's possible. All best wishes in every arena! Anna

Hi, I’m Jasmine. I’m a licensed social worker here to help you navigate this season of your life. I enjoy working with young adults as they explore who they are and learn to be the healthiest version of themselves. I know how hard it can be to decide to start therapy. There can be a lot of unanswered questions in the beginning. I get it. Rest assured that we can talk through any questions you may have. In the meantime, know that I am a person centered/relational therapist, which means I value the relationship between client and therapist above all else. I also value the process of change and know that it is necessary for growth…even when it’s hard or scary. I understand that we all learn, grow, and process in our own unique ways. My sessions are flexible to your own personal style of learning and expressing yourself. Want to play a video game together and chat? Feel more comfortable doodling or drawing during your sessions? Want to spend your time journaling before speaking? We can do the things that work best for you! Therapy can be a challenge because LIFE is challenging, but there are steps we can take and skills we can adapt to give us a smoother experience. Let’s navigate these challenges together, set the goals you wish to see in your life, and work towards a fulfilled and happier you! In the meantime, here’s a little something to get to know me better: In my free time, I love trying new Colorado adventures with my husband and sweet pup. I enjoy hiking, camping, snowboarding, and many of the adventures that mountains have to offer! When I am enjoying time at home, I love gardening, food canning/preservation, and woodworking. Not all of my time is spent dreaming about the outdoors though! A lot of the time, you can find me playing video games, watching anime (or any streaming shows really), or sitting down with a nice fiction book. I am just another “social” introvert! The process of learning, change, and new adventures fuel my soul! I can’t wait to get to know what fuels you as well!

I would like to tell you about my practice. I offer a warm, relaxed environment for exploring what may be difficult issues. It is my belief that your wisdom combined with my experience and openness can lead to a life of more joy and freedom. I have been working with individuals, couples, and groups in the counseling psychotherapy field since 1994. It has been a privilege and joy to watch so many couples find their way back to intimacy, so many individuals find relief in what may be tormenting them, so many others find joy and fulfillment in their lives. My approach to therapy is client-centered. I draw from humanistic psychology, somatic psychotherapy, existential psychology and philosophy, gestalt therapy and psychodynamic theories. Which simply means I work with the body, choices, and meaning making. I invite you into the room with me, all of you, including the aspects of yourself that you may have difficulties with. Therapy is a form of play where one experiments with ways of being. In doing this you begin to discover and ultimately let go of what is getting in the way of having a full rich and joyful life. You will discover a multitude of choices of how to approach life and relationships. You will find the opportunity to step into your freedom. This leads to more openness, presence, and creativity.
