Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
Regardless of what brings you to counseling, my goal is to truly understand you as a human being and the unique perspectives, experiences, and identities that you bring into the room and how best to support and challenge you in your growth. My hope as your counselor is that you can bring your authentic self and feel safe to dive deep and gain insight and self-awareness so that you can make the change you are looking for. I feel honored to sit with clients and be entrusted with their stories. I am often inspired by my clients and the things they share. I want counseling to feel collaborative and for you to have a say in your experience, therefore, openness, communication and feedback is so important to me. I specialize in trauma, religious trauma, self-harm, grief and loss, identity exploration, self-esteem, life transitions, substance use, and process addictions. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals exploring their identity, gender, and/or sexual orientation. As a former athlete, I also enjoy supporting athletes managing performance pressures and daily stressors. Please feel free to reach out for a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if I may be a good fit for you.
As a Somatic Therapist and Intuitive Eating Counselor, I blend talk therapy with body-based techniques to help people rediscover their innate wisdom and hunger for life. Instead of getting caught in a spiral of prescriptive “shoulds” as related to eating, exercise, perfectionism, anxiety or depression, my holistic approach allows you to slowly become more aware of your unique bodily rhythms, relational needs, gut instincts and deeper hungers from the inside-out. I love helping people reconnect with their body-mind-spirit from a trauma-informed, depth-oriented, expressive arts, and all-bodies-welcome approach. With a great appreciation for the body’s wisdom, early developmental imprinting and expanding one’s intuition, I draw upon nervous system science, attachment theory and trauma-informed somatic therapy to help clients feel supported and empowered in their bodies and lives. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we move and make art, sometimes we explore developmental shapes or movement patterns, and sometimes we do all three. You set the pace.
The kindest, most loving step you can take for yourself and for those you love is to reach out. Therapy can help. I'm here to take the journey with you. As you develop insights about yourself and how/ why you interact with the world in the ways you do, your confidence builds and you can tackle the issues in your life again with honesty and purpose. I utilize a person-centered approach, following your lead as I help you clarify your goals and support you in working towards them. You come not as a passive learner, but to actively work on yourself. We often hold solutions to the issues we face, but need space to discover them within a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Call now & let's get started. I am fully vaccinated and am offering both in-person as well as telehealth services.
Are you afraid of making one mistake that ruins your whole life? Do you find yourself constantly tired and anxious? Unable to have fun no matter what you’re doing? Maybe you’re looking for a therapist who's a dungeon master and watches anime? Then I’m your person. I am passionate about providing affirming care to geeky queer, trans, and gender-expansive individuals (13 years and older), and I specialize in folks experiencing OCD/anxiety, identity exploration, and life transitions, although I love to work with clients on a large variety of concerns. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down and feel truly seen for every aspect of you. Together, we’ll build up your toolbox with skills so you can set boundaries with others and calm your compulsive thoughts. We’ll explore the habits you’ve been meaning to stop and create ways to manage your time better. One way I enjoy connecting with clients is through media, video games, and other current geeky events – also known as Geek Therapy, where we use fantasy and play to work through what brings you to counseling. Depending on your passions, this can look like utilizing games, creating Dungeons & Dragons character sheets, watching your favorite tv show together or even showing up to a session in cosplay! We can bring your interests into the room to make therapy less scary and more empowering. Counseling has been absolutely crucial to my own journey, while also opening my eyes to the lack of queer-affirming support that is out there. This inspired me to become a counselor who gives back to their own community, by creating brave and affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ folx. I know how powerless and shameful it feels having to hide away parts of yourself to fit in with others and that is not necessary here. You can be yourself with me.
"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change," Max Planck. If you're looking for a therapist, you're looking for a change. As a counselor, my role is to help you see what may be hidden from your current perspective—recognizing patterns in your thinking, addressing the pain from past experiences, and identifying opportunities for strength, resilience, and change. I work with children, youth adults and couples. Before pursuing my degree in counseling I worked as a career and college advisor. I speak Spanish and am happy to serve the Latinx and Hispanic community.

We provide therapy online and in-person at an office located in Atlanta, Georgia, within walking distance of Emory University. Our psychologists and therapists specialize in therapy for trauma, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, eating disorders, and sleep. With life experience comes pain, loss, and suffering. Our goal is to learn about and understand your unique history and life path with openness, compassion, acceptance, and patience. We will teach you to do the same for yourself, as these factors are necessary to the process of change and ultimately to live fully. After your deductible is met, you will pay approximately $85 per session.
Hello and welcome to my page! Reaching out is the first step towards healing and I'm glad you are here. My therapeutic style is warm, compassionate, and honest. Before moving into private practice I worked in a variety of therapeutic settings at the inpatient and residential level of care. I am passionate about helping others look back at the experiences that have shaped who they are so they might have a clearer and more satisfying path forward. I draw from a combination of techniques including psychodynamic and attachment theories. If you find that you have difficulty functioning in everyday life, finding joy, communicating effectively and maintaining healthy boundaries in relationships, I would love to work with you. As a counselor, I work with individuals struggling with little t trauma (emotional abuse, prolonged stress, chronic disappointment, abandonment, neglect, relational distress with family members and/or significant other), grief/loss, women’s issues, spiritual trauma, and those who would like to learn more about their attachment style. Outside of work my interests include hiking, kickboxing, paddle boarding and traveling anywhere a place, train, car, or boat can take me.

Amelia offers EMDR Therapy in her work with clients seeking recovery from trauma. College can bring on anxieties and insecurities that may have felt more manageable in high school. We help clients struggling with anxiety and/or depression that can come from finding your identity or the day to day stresses of college life. I approach therapy through a cognitive, culturally sensitive, and mindfulness based lens. I utilize EMDR to help process trauma and other negative emotions stored in the body. I have completed EMDR basic training under Deany Laliotis, LICSW and am working toward my full EMDR certification under the consultation of Dr. Pegah Moghaddam, PsyD. I work with clients experiencing a myriad of clinical concerns including depression, anxiety, life transitions, and grief. Additionally, I have a passion for working with individuals overcoming complex trauma, including sexual abuse. Some of my other clinical experiences include working with substance use, HIV/AIDS, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation. Many of my clients are seeking out culturally sensitive care, where their identities are given the space to be seen and heard. During our time together we will work on building awareness of thought patterns, beliefs, and narratives that no longer serve you. I believe we all have the power to re-write unhelpful narratives, challenge negative thoughts, and transform our lives.
Unlike other therapists who believe that the mind is the key to unlocking everything, I believe in the holistic perspective of working with mind, emotions, and body. I have over 400-hours of certifications on the most scientifically backed approaches towards holistic healing which combines physiology, psychology, biology, neuroscience, and ancient Chinese healing practices. Through my sessions you will learn how the mind-body connection helps open neuropathways to healing. The skillset you learn in session will become a part of your "toolset" on your life- long journey towards happiness and wellbeing. I will not wholly agree with you, or "uh huh" you too much. I will push you, heal you, and help you in your apprenticeship to the truth.
