Hawk's Nest Counseling is nestled on an 11 acre hobby farm. We offer a unique setting incorporating Nigerian dwarf goats, chickens and cows as well as a therapy dog. All of the animals on the farm have been hand raised with therapeutic purposes in mind. Our clients have a unique opportunity to walk and talk on the nature trail, chat while walking a goat or just lounging in the variety of outdoor sitting spaces. Our three therapists offer a wide range of life and work experiences and an eclectic array of counseling approaches. I am very familiar with all the challenges that being a student and balancing a new life bring. Becoming who you are going to be -while feeling and balancing all the things can seem so overwhelming! I work well with students who are struggling with fear, anxiety (social and other), relationships, old memories, trauma, recovering from sexual assault, past abuse, family conflict, low self esteem, worthlessness, self harm, eating difficulties, existential crisis, coming out-LGBTQ, and multicultural issues. My students tend to learn who they are and what matters to them, how to feel more peaceful, more joyful, more at ease, and more self loving. They often learn how to communicate better, say no, sleep at night, and have healthier relationships with others. I partner a lot with people who are healing from PTSD, or are grieving and have suffered losses as well. A lot of my clients say they feel more courageous, more at home in their body, more content being themselves and trusting of themselves after we work together. Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is designed to allow us to heal from our pain, hurt, and fears by managing the parts that have been created out of our traumas. We have all experienced trauma in some form, and we all have parts that have been borne from those traumas.
