Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
I work with individuals and couples in Georgia who are seeking support for various mental health challenges. Many of my clients have difficulties related to anxiety, depression, and past trauma that get in the way of enjoying life and thriving to their fullest potential. I also work with people who are diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and related conditions. The foundation of my therapy is a collaborative relationship based on warmth and acceptance. I look beyond the mental health “condition” and seek to understand you as a person, influenced by your identities and past experiences. I will work collaboratively with you to develop goals for therapy and a plan to attain those goals. I provide a tailored therapy experience by utilizing a variety of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy, emotion-focused couples therapy, and the Gottman Method. Overall, I seek to empower you with the skills to live a meaningful life based on your personal goals and values. Whether you are interested in individual therapy or couples counseling, I am looking forward to connecting with you and working together to create the change you are seeking. It can be one of the most difficult steps to make that first phone call for therapy. Typically, we are making that call when life feels the most stressful or when we are feeling at our most vulnerable. I strive to support the courage, strength, and determination involved in seeking support. Described by clients as caring, supportive, and warm, I believe each person possesses innate skills and strengths that can be utilized within therapy. I value strengths-based, person-in-environment, cognitive-behavioral, and motivational therapeutic approaches to support each individual’s intrinsic worth and value. I love working with adults, couples, and families to explore difficulties in coping emotionally, breaking the cycle of addiction or substance use, balancing life stressors, establishing self-esteem, setting healthy boundaries, and maintaining healthy relationships. I strive to help you find your voice, offer new coping skills, and explore presenting concerns within a non-judgmental and warm environment. Think we might be a good fit? I welcome you to come, exactly as you are, right now, and we can move toward the person you want to be and the life you want to live. I look forward to meeting you, whether this is your first experience with counseling or if you are looking for a different approach. Whatever brings you to my office, we can do this together. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Georgia. Feeling overwhelmed and struggling to manage your life? Maybe your coping skills aren’t working anymore, or aren’t so healthy. You have high standards for yourself, and you aren’t sure if you are measuring up. I work with people who are struggling with anxiety and/or mood issues which are chronic or situational. Our work together will be a partnership, and will include practical tools, including DBT skills. I provide free phone consultations; call to see if you feel like we will make a good team!
Anxiety is taking up more space in your life than you’d like. On the outside, things look successful—people rely on you, and you generally handle what’s in front of you. But internally, it can feel very different. Your mind replays conversations late at night. You hold yourself to impossibly high standards. That critical inner voice is quick to point out what you should have done better. Even when you accomplish something meaningful, it rarely feels like enough. You may be someone who was labeled “gifted” or high-achieving early on. You’re thoughtful, capable, and used to performing well under pressure. Yet the constant drive to get it right can leave you exhausted. You might notice tension in your body that never quite goes away, difficulty truly relaxing, or moments when your reactions feel stronger than they should. You understand your patterns—you may have even done therapy before—but insight alone hasn’t fully created the change you’re looking for. In our work together, we move beyond simply talking about the problem. I integrate EMDR and somatic-informed approaches to help your nervous system process experiences that may still be driving anxiety, perfectionism, or emotional intensity beneath the surface. When the body has a chance to settle, the mind often follows. Therapy becomes less about “figuring it out” and more about creating meaningful, embodied change. Our sessions are collaborative, focused, and respectful of your time and intelligence. I provide a calm, professional space where you can slow down without losing momentum. Together, we clarify what matters most to you and work toward a life that feels grounded, balanced, and genuinely fulfilling—not just successful on paper. If you’re ready for therapy that goes deeper than insight alone and supports lasting change, I’d be glad to connect. I invite you to schedule a free consultation through my website.
Hi, I'm Madeline! At the heart of my work is a deep belief in the power of authentic, meaningful human connection. From a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, I strive to meet each client exactly where they are, with empathy, gentle care, and acceptance. As a fellow creative, I love incorporating play, art, and expressive tools into the therapy process. With specialized training in play therapy and expressive arts approaches, enjoy using creative, personalized interventions to empower clients as they express themselves, explore and gain insight into emotions and experiences, and build on their unique strengths. I believe therapy should be a safe, developmentally appropriate space where you can feel truly seen, heard, and supported. I also value collaboration, partnering with families to offer helpful resources and build a strong support system rooted in trust that nurtures growth and healing. Before joining the team at Early Connections, I worked with children, teens, and young adults in a community mental health setting, offering individual and family counseling to those navigating anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, suicidal ideation, childhood trauma, school challenges, and adjustment. I’ve also supported undergraduate college students through social, emotional, and academic challenges in a university setting. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a research assistant, focusing on suicide prevention in vulnerable populations. These valuable experiences have all shaped my heart for this work. I’m especially passionate about supporting others through anxiety, depression, stress, life changes, trauma, grief and loss, and issues related to emotional regulation, identity, and self-worth. I earned my Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology from the University of Georgia, where I also studied Human Services and Human Development and Family Science. I received my Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. I am an Associate Professional Counselor (APC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC), working towards full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and pursuing my Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential. I’m also an active member of the American Counseling Association and Association for Play Therapy. As an Associate Professional Counselor, I will be working under the supervision of Lauren Brown, LPC, NCC, RPT-S, the owner of Early Connections Child and Family Counseling. Outside of the counseling space, I’m someone who recharges through creativity and connection. I enjoy a good art project, playing guitar, reading, exploring new coffee shops, and spending quality time with my loved ones. I’m so glad that you are here. I’d be honored to connect with you and walk alongside you on your journey!

Hi there! I am a licensed psychologist in Midtown Atlanta. I enjoy helping with anxiety concerns, men's issues/masculinity, relationship and social concerns, and depression, as well as a number of other concerns. I also have extensive experience working with undergraduate and graduate college students. I integrate different approaches, but work mainly using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and relational/interpersonal techniques. Additionally, I specialize in mindfulness-based and self-compassion approaches and the use of mindfulness meditation. My aim in therapy is to create a space of warmth, openness, and support so that we can lean into the difficult areas of your life, work to understand the ways you could grow, and begin to address them. I work actively to help my clients open up to their thoughts and emotions while also helping identify changes they can make to live life more effectively. I am patient, relatable, and flexible in my work, and you'll find that I am a humorous and light-hearted person, too. I also aim to be direct and authentic, giving helpful feedback when appropriate.
