Therapists for college students near 60637
I enjoy working with college students and young adults seeking balance in work, personal life, and social relationships, including friendships, boundaries, and family dynamics. I specialize in anxiety/social anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, and identity issues. I support clients in exploring their childhood experiences, attachment patterns, and the balance between self and others. With a gentle and encouraging presence, I help clients reconnect with their authentic selves, cultivate inner growth, and define personal meaning as they move forward in therapy. As a Registered Art Therapist as well, I also welcome you to work with me through art. By using art as a second tool, I support clients in finding their voices and meanings. I’m now accepting virtual, in-person, and mixed sessions. There’s no pressure to know exactly what to say or do in our session. You might begin by sharing what you’re curious or concerned about, or you’re welcome to book a free 15-minute consultation call with me. Whenever you’re ready, I’m here to support you.
Hi, I'm Sierra! I'm a licensed therapist in Chicago offering fully virtual sessions. I have expertise in helping people heal from trauma, anxiety, and depression. As a once first-generation college student, I understand the difficulties of navigating this particularly trying time in life. Working with a new therapist can sometimes feel daunting, so I get to know each person on a human level with a bit of (appropriate) humor. I'm queer, gender-affirming, and like to incorporate skills in sessions to help you develop better coping strategies. I accept all major insurance plans and can work with anyone in Illinois. If you'd like to see if we'd be a good fit, feel free to email me and we can set up a time to chat! Interested in a therapist with a different specialty? I work with Cityscape Counseling, a group practice in Chicago with over 55 licensed therapists offering treatment both in-person and online for eating disorders, substance use, OCD, and more. Most clients are already aware of what they need or where they want to go. My role is to help you identify what is getting in the way of living out your values each day, and to help you gradually remove those barriers. If you aren't sure what you hope to get out of therapy but just want to feel better, we'll work together on a plan towards increased wellness that fits for you. I consider myself a generalist but I have specific training in the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, substance use, grief, and personality disorders. My practice involves cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and mindfulness-based interventions. I do my best to tailer the interventions I use to the specific needs of each client. It takes courage to ask for help, whether you're experiencing mental health issues for the first time or whether you have struggled for years. I hope to make your experience as welcoming and comfortable as possible. The quality of the relationship between the therapist and client is, after all, one of the most important determinants of therapy success.
Students who come to work with me often share some things in common: -They're high-achievers. Driven, capable, and holding it together on the outside, but quietly exhausted, burned out, or feeling like something's missing on the inside. -They might be navigating anxiety or OCD, going through a major life transition, or questioning their purpose and what comes next. They may be working through shifts in their relationships, with a partner, with their parents, or with themselves. -Many have never asked for help before. They're used to being the one who has it together, and reaching out takes real courage for them. If any of that sounds familiar, reach out for a free 20-minute consultation and let's get started together :)

Primary Care Psychology Associates (PCPA) is a group practice of doctoral-level clinical psychologists and psychotherapists providing outpatient mental health care and psychological testing for adults, children, and families. What We Do: Psychotherapy: Individual, couples, family, and group talk therapy. Psychological Assessment: Diagnostic testing for ADHD, learning differences, and developmental or emotional concerns. Integrated Medical Collaboration: Co-locating or coordinating care directly with primary care physicians and pediatric groups (such as PediaTrust). Multilingual Care: Offering sessions in English, Spanish, and Bulgarian. What We Do Well: Integrated & Co-Located Care: We excel at embedding behavioral health inside primary medical clinics. This allows for real-time consultation, smoother referrals, and "warm handoffs" where a medical doctor can connect a patient to mental health support immediately. Solution-Focused, Evidence-Based Approach: Our clinicians utilize proven modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with a time-limited focus. We aim for practical skill-building and tangible results within weeks or months rather than open-ended years of analysis. Lifespan & Family Systems Coverage: We manage care seamlessly across all ages (from early childhood pediatric support and parent training to adult and geriatric health psychology) while viewing patients through a broader family or environmental lens. Behavioral Medicine: We handle the psychological overlay of physical illness well—such as helping patients adjust to chronic pain, diabetes, cancer, or cardiac recovery alongside their medical treatments.

Trauma-informed care: Our therapists help you process and heal from past experiences safely and at your own pace. Flexible & accessible: Choose in-person or virtual sessions, with evening and weekend options that fit your schedule. Holistic growth: We integrate evidence-based methods (CBT, ACT, Mindfulness) with a focus on self-understanding, values, and connection. At Evolve Wellness, you’re not alone. You belong. You matter. Let’s heal and grow together.
At Restartt, we work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, emotional dysregulation, addiction, procrastination, relationship stress, and life transitions. Many clients feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, avoidance, people-pleasing, shame, or self-defeating behaviors. Our team uses evidence-based approaches, including REBT and CBT, to help clients understand how their beliefs influence emotional distress and behavior. We focus on building emotional discipline, self-awareness, healthier coping, and lasting behavioral change.
Your grades are declining. You nap because it's the only way to shut your brain off. You're reviewing everything you said in that last conversation because you're sure you said something embarrassing. You feel like something is wrong, but you don't want anyone to know. You've come to the right place! We will explore your challenges from a non-judgmental and self-compassionate place. Believe me- I've heard and seen it all, and I can still honestly say my clients are the most amazing people. You are not lazy or weird or any of the other negative things your brain is telling you. My clients often struggle with challenges related to anxiety, depression, social anxiety, autism, and perfectionism. I will help you learn to manage your anxious or depressive thoughts differently so that you can function and succeed. You've struggled long enough. Let's work together to get you unstuck.

Therapy can be many things and is different for each person. Whether you are new to therapy or returning, my hope is to meet you where you’re at, explore what may feel stuck, painful, or challenging, and support you in living a life aligned with what is most important to you. Throughout my career I have really enjoyed working with college students and I know that this time of life can bring unique challenges, both in concerns that arise now and in reflecting on what has brought you to this point. No situation is too big or too small to explore and work to understand how to navigate together.
I work with young adults managing stress, anxiety and life transitions. Many of the college students I work with are seeking help with adjustment to college, gaining a greater understanding of friendship and relationship dynamics, and building stress management strategies. My office is conveniently located blocks from DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus.
Ali King, LCPC, earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. She went on to work as a behavioral therapist for children with Autism at the Minnesota Autism Center before moving to Chicago and earning her master’s degree in Community Counseling from DePaul University. After graduate school, Ali worked as a therapist at Insight Behavioral Health Center’s residential facility for people struggling with eating disorders, as well as mood disorders. She led groups and supported people with everyday living tasks, as well as general skills coaching and meal management. Ali recently stepped down as the Director of the Young Adult PHP and IOP programs at Compass Health Center where she worked for 8 years in many different roles helping to build the Young Adult program and support the growth of the organization. While at Compass, Ali provided supervision and mentorship to newer clinicians and helped establish the group curriculum they currently use, as well as instituting effective policies and protocols. While at Compass, she received the award for Continuous Improvement, which highlights her drive and dedication to learning and growth. For over a decade, she has been providing person-centered, solution-focused, skills-based care. Her direct though nurturing, fun, and empathetic approach, is well received and has shown tangible results for her clients. With consistent encouragement and support, clients feel safe to explore their values and to learn successful coping strategies to improve their lives. While Ali has a passion for working with young adults through the tough transitions they face, she also appreciates working with adolescents and adults. She is well-versed in helping people manage struggles with self-esteem, relationships, low motivation, and simply feeling “stuck”. Ali is adept at working with clients with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, personality disorders, psychosis and substance use struggles. She has extensive experience working with DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and often incorporates these modalities into her eclectic therapeutic approach. Ali is currently accepting new clients virtually and at the downtown Chicago location.
I believe therapy can be a place where you can leave the expectations and demands of the world at the door to focus on redefining what life, joy, and connection mean to you. I practice knowing that you are the expert in your lived experiences; my role is not to prescribe but to walk alongside you on your journey. I apply a trauma-informed, feminist, and disability justice lens to my work and utilize modalities such as Liberation psychology, Self psychology, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). This means I focus on your innate strengths as well as how experiences in the therapy room extend to your relationships outside of it. As a queer and neurodivergent therapist, I believe in the value of a therapeutic space where we both can show up as our true selves. I am passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ as well as neurodivergent clients. During my previous work in hospital and community mental health settings I supported clients with relationship issues, and identity exploration, and gender dysphoria, as well as substance use concerns, trauma, OCD, grief, and depression. I value my previous training providing queer competent counseling that additionally affirms the experiences of kink practitioners, sex workers, and those in polyamorous/ENM relationships. Currently I am receiving doctoral training at Center Focused Therapy as I finish earning my PsyD in Clinical Psychology. I offer a free 15-minute video consultation and my sliding scale rate starts at $25.
Hi I am Sophia, LSW (they/she)! I believe life’s challenges can shape us, but they don’t have to define us. I believe people have an innate capacity for growth, healing, and change, even when circumstances make that possibility difficult to see. Therapy can be especially helpful when anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, or other challenges begin to interfere with how you want to live. I view therapy as a space to slow down, make sense of your experiences, develop greater self-understanding, and discover tools that support meaningful and lasting change. I take a collaborative, relational, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to therapy. I recognize that there is no single path to our growth and change, and that each person brings their own experiences, identities, strengths, and goals into the therapeutic space. Rather than viewing clients as problems that need to be fixed, I work alongside each person to understand what they are experiencing and identify what may help them move forward. I believe therapy works best when clients feel genuinely heard, respected, and empowered to take an active role in their own healing. My therapeutic orientation is integrative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, expressive arts therapy, relational frameworks, and trauma-informed approaches. These approaches allow me to help my clients explore the connections between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and past experiences. I specialize in working with adults, adolescents, and couples dealing with complex trauma, neurodivergence, and chronic pain. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals whose experiences have been shaped by interpersonal or systemic oppression. I understand that responses to difficult experiences often develop as ways of coping or adapting, and therapy can provide an opportunity to understand those patterns while building new ways of responding that feel more supportive and authentic. I have previously had the opportunity to support clients who were navigating bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, psychotic disorders, and sociopolitical concerns. I am motivated by the opportunity to build genuine connections with clients and to create a therapeutic environment where people feel safe enough to be honest, curious, and themselves. I encourage anyone considering therapy to remember that you do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Therapy can be the place where we can begin figuring it out together.
As a previous university counseling center therapist, I work well with students who feel stuck and unhappy, and who are looking to make some sort of change in their lives, whether it is related to mood, purpose, addictions/habits, and/or relationships. I also work well with student who are experiencing nervousness about their academic and/or personal lives, and who are feeling overwhelmed with stress. I help students figure out how to be successful as they transition into young adulthood.

I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago with a specialization in clinical mental health, and hold certifications in alcohol and drug counseling (CADC) and in the assessment and treatment of trauma (NMT Phase I). In my training, I have worked with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, including community youth programming, community mental health centers, and private practice. I work from a client-centered, strengths-based, and integrative approach in which I am able to tailor therapy to the individual client’s needs. I believe in the power of utilizing attachment and psychodynamic theories to better understand the origins of symptoms along with implementing cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness techniques to relieve symptoms. Because I believe that connection is fundamental to the healing process, I aim to create a warm and accepting therapeutic relationship that allows me to understand the challenges you face, help you determine the goals you hope to work toward, and empower you to create significant and lasting change. My areas of specialization include anxiety, trauma, substance use, relational conflict, self-esteem, and life transitions. When I’m not working, you can find me going to yoga classes, working through a long bucket list of Chicago restaurants, and planning my next travel adventure.
