I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner of Turn On the Light Therapy Services, a telehealth private practice serving adults throughout Illinois. I have over 10 years of experience working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, ADHD, and the many demands that come with trying to balance work, relationships, family, and taking care of yourself. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and practical. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and family systems approaches, tailoring treatment to each person’s individual needs and goals. I also have specialized training as an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider and am completing additional training focused on pain psychology using CBT and ACT-based approaches. One of the things I value most about therapy is creating a space where people can slow down, be honest about what they want, and reconnect with themselves. Often, people come to therapy feeling stuck or trying to figure out how to make everything work. Therapy can provide an opportunity to explore what is underneath that feeling, understand patterns, build confidence, and make intentional choices about what comes next. Through Turn on the Light Therapy Services, I provide convenient, compassionate virtual therapy for adults across Illinois. My goal is to help clients feel more understood, empowered, and equipped to create meaningful change in their lives.

I earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree specializing in Psychiatry from The University of Texas at Arlington. I am proud to say I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am a true believer that not one of my fellow humans is immune to stress, anxiety, and feelings of sadness at some point in their life. We all find ourselves feeling vulnerable at times. It is completely normal to question why we feel the emotions that we do, why we seem to fall apart at times, and better yet, how we can get through it all in one beautiful piece. I think the first step to meaningful recovery from anxiety, depression, complex mental illness, and/or substance use is to reach out and ask for help. It is a difficult, but very brave action. I am not one to judge, look down on, question your past experiences, or current situation. I am very good at rationally breaking down a situation and I can offer practical advice and medication suggestions depending on your goal in mind. Hi, I’m a first-generation Mexican-American bilingual therapist (¡HABLO ESPAÑOL!) offering compassionate, non-judgmental care for individuals who are ready to heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves. I’m deeply committed to supporting the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, teenagers, college students, young adults, adults, eldest daughters, and señoras navigating life’s challenges. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors, emotional struggles, relationship issues, family conflict, low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, and school-related stress. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by family expectations, struggling with perfectionism or people-pleasing, carrying the pressure of being the eldest daughter, or finding it difficult to set boundaries and say “no,” you do not have to navigate it alone. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. You may feel like you’re constantly putting others first, avoiding your emotions, struggling to protect your peace, or carrying the weight of generational trauma. Together, we’ll work toward healthier boundaries, greater self-confidence, and breaking patterns that no longer serve you. My approach is rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and authenticity. Together, we’ll build insight into your thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns so you can stop feeling stuck in survival mode and begin moving forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion. With me, you can expect to feel truly listened to. My calm, lighthearted presence helps create a space where you’ll feel safe to open up, even when things are heavy. I pride myself on creating a warm, supportive environment where you can explore your emotions without fear of judgment. I’ll also gently challenge you when needed, helping you face yourself with honesty so you can grow. That may mean confronting difficult emotions, patterns, or experiences, but always with care, respect, and your best interest at heart. If you’re ready to do the work, whether that means challenging old habits, trying new coping strategies, or showing up with honesty and curiosity, we’ll likely be a great match. Therapy with me is about creating momentum toward the life you want and becoming the version of yourself that feels most authentic, empowered, and at peace. Therapy is not about being “fixed”. It’s about learning to care for yourself in ways you may have never been taught. I would be honored to support you on your healing journey.
Everyone deserves support, however they arrive — color-coded planner in hand or running five minutes late with coffee spilled down their shirt. Anxious, calm, talkative, quiet, existentially confused — you’re welcome here. The bigger question is really: Am I your kind of therapist? You might read my profile and think, “She gets me,” or, “Why is she so emotionally invested in foxes and axolotls?” Either way, I promise I’m still licensed. I’m an LPC-MHSP, LCPC with over nine years of experience. I mainly work with PTSD, OCD, DV/SA, and BPD. I also see a range of other concerns—because humans are complex, and the universe did not consult the DSM before handing out life experiences. People usually open up more when they don’t feel pressure to perform or deliver a TED Talk about their feelings. Autonomy matters to me. You get to ask questions, collaborate on your treatment, and arrive exactly as you are — glamorously put-together or held together by three bobby pins and sheer willpower. If you need to laugh, cry, swear, or take a strategic pause while your soul hits “buffering,” that’s part of the process. Life gets messy… it's real and unfiltered. *** I schedule by appt so I do not have posted hours. Please just reach out. I am flexible!

I work with you to not just understand what's going on, but also to develop tools to help. Tools to stop panic attacks, tools to manage depression, tools to get organized and figure out what you want in life. We work together to see what works reliably for you. In addition to talking things through, in session and between sessions sometimes you might be writing, sometimes trying a challenging behavior change, sometimes engaging in mindfulness, and sometimes using visualizations. My aim is for you to feel better, and to know what to do to keep feeling better or help yourself if problems resurface. And I try to work efficiently with you, so you are back to your life (and ending therapy) as soon as makes sense for you. Give me a call to set up an initial (free) conversation, at 303-870-9195.
You might be someone who, from the outside, has built a life that looks steady—getting into college, building friendships, increasing responsibilities—but inside, you feel more anxious, alone, or unsure of yourself than expected. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, self-esteem, identity, and relationships—often shaped by life transitions, adjusting to a new environment, or disappointment and unmet expectations. These experiences make sense. Navigating them alone is hard. College is hard! My work is grounded in the therapeutic relationship. I believe growth happens in the context of feeling safe, understood, and emotionally supported. I strive to create a warm, attuned, and collaborative space where we gently explore patterns shaped by relationships, attachment, and life experiences. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you’re used to carrying it all on your own. You don’t have to know where to start to begin. If you’re curious about working together, I invite you to reach out. I'm available in-person in the North Shore of Chicago or virtual across Illinois. I'd be so glad to partner with you!
With over 20 years of experience as a therapist and school counselor, I am dedicated to supporting students as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. My approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based practices, with a deep understanding that every individual’s journey is unique. I specialize in providing meaningful support for individuals with ADHD, anxiety, and/or special needs. Whether a client is struggling with focus and organization, feeling overwhelmed by worry, or needing tailored emotional and academic support, I strive to create a safe encouraging space where growth and confidence can flourish. Drawing on two decades of experience in educational and therapeutic settings, I can help clients of all ages build practical skills, emotional resilience, and self-awareness. My goal is not only to address immediate concerns, but to empower individuals with tools they can carry forward—at school, at home, and in everyday life.
Through compassion and support, I strive to empower my clients to cultivate resilience, self-awareness, and autonomy. My objective is to equip individuals with the tools needed to navigate their personal journeys with confidence. Recognizing that each person comes from a unique background with varied needs, I prioritize a collaborative therapeutic process tailored to your specific circumstances. I am committed to creating a safe, judgment-free environment where questions and feedback are always welcome. While therapists are often seen as “experts,” I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own life. With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I specialize in working with children aged 11+, teens, college students, emerging adults, and adults from diverse backgrounds. I take an eclectic approach, integrating modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Art Therapy, Bibliotherapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Practices to help you achieve your goals. Commonly, I support individuals experiencing anxiety, ADHD, low self-esteem, perfectionism, life transitions, and challenges related to college or emerging adulthood. I also work with clients to manage stress, build coping skills, address women’s issues, and explore the impact of being a child or an adult child of an alcoholic or dysfunctional family (ACOA) and (COA). Alongside my clients, I help identify areas requiring focus, set meaningful goals, and develop skills to foster a sustainable holistic approach to long-term emotional well-being. I am dedicated to helping individuals confront life’s challenges with courage and will always meet them where they are on their personal wellness journey.
At the North Suburban Center for Anxiety, we specialize in using cognitive behavior therapy to treat anxiety, OCD, and related disorders. We recognize that anxiety can be overwhelming, scary, and isolating. However, it is also treatable! As cognitive behavior therapists, we provide research-supported and results-oriented treatment. We believe that how individuals think and behave directly affect how they feel. Therefore, we use a compassionate, collaborative, and direct approach to empower clients with the necessary skills to modify their irrational thoughts, confront their maladaptive fears, and decrease their overall anxiety. By the end of treatment, our goal is that clients have learned the essential tools to master their anxiety or OCD and are living a more fulfilling life.
