Beginning the work of therapy can bring up many emotions, and I am here to be with you through all of them. I approach therapy with reverence for your lived experience, nervous system, and desires for the future. I specialize in working with teenagers through adults to address concerns related to anxiety, depression, life transitions big or small, religion and identity, and family of origin issues. I’m passionate about working with parents to explore their own histories and ties to the present, as well as individuals seeking to understand their experience of neurodivergence or that of a loved one. I utilize a psychodynamic approach and draw from relational-cultural theory, polyvagal theory, and internal family systems. This means we will wonder together about the ways past experiences and relationships impact you in the present emotionally, mentally, and physically. I'm deeply committed to maintaining an anti-racist, neurodiversity-affirming, and queer-affirming practice, considering clients and their challenges in the context of oppressive systems. I know how challenging it can be to find a therapist who feels like a good fit, and I'd love to connect with you if anything in my approach resonates with your experiences.

Some of the disciplines that I often draw from include CBT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing. You are the expert in your own life, I am here to help you reach your full potential and achieve your goals. My ultimate goal is to make you feel safe, comfortable, and free from judgement during our sessions. Creating a space where you can be your true, authentic self is one of my top priorities. I see therapy as a collaborative effort between myself and my clients. As a queer black woman, my goal is to provide space for those like me and others who have felt silenced and marginalized a majority of their lives. I have a passion for working with women of color and LGBTQIA+ identifying folks. If you find yourself experiencing things like depression and anxiety, or low self-esteem/self-concept, I may be a good fit for you. I have past experience working with clients on things like life adjustments (moving, end of a relationship, career change, etc.), grief and loss, day-to-day stressors, and relationship concerns - romantic, platonic, familial, and professional.
I view therapy as a unique, dynamic space between two people where an alliance is being formed. Clients often come my way frustrated by not being heard by health providers or mental health therapists who lack empathy, understanding, or who come off as judgmental. My job is to meet you in a place where you can feel deeply seen, heard, and understood.
Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or just having a hard time adjusting to our changing world or your own life transitions, I am here to help. I specialize in helping build healthy coping skills, positive self-worth, and emotional regulation to weather the stress and overwhelm life sometimes carries. Or, I can support you in building healthy relationships, setting boundaries, or improving your communication skills. I hope you seek the support you need!
Currently accepting new clients for in person and telehealth appointments. Hello and thanks for checking out more about me! Lets learn how we can work together. No matter where you are at in a life journey things can become difficult. In our work, we will integrate your knowledge, insight and expertise of your life with my perspective, to challenge - in a safe way - the thinking and automatic thoughts that so quickly come to your mind when faced with situations. The great thing is, those thoughts can be modified, but much like a muscle, it requires a consistent effort, and a willingness to try new approaches - it may be a little tough in the beginning. We will focus and learn to: Identify thinking patterns – developing an awareness of how you think about yourself, circumstances and outcomes and gain insight of where you may be critical and the unhelpful ways of how you relate to who you are Take the time to reflect – while hard to do in the busyness of life, looking inward helps build awareness of emotions and to explore what’s going on. Clarity in thinking and discovery of what really matters will result in those moments Become curious – life is a journey full of twists and turns; embrace what is presented and yet be mindful of the present moment Add self-care and compassion into your life – let’s work on increasing your ability for self-kindness and the process of acceptance Develop a growth mindset – no matter where you are emotionally, physically, or how old or young you are, we can expand in areas of life and improve in ways of relating and achieving what is possible or even ….what may seem impossible If this sounds and feels interesting to you, let’s begin with a complimentary 15-minute telephone conversation to determine how we can work together and the next steps.
Therapy is not always easy. But that doesn't mean it is without joy. In therapy, we get to come to an appreciation of both joy and sorrow that are the consequences of living a fully human life. Through appropriate challenge and support, we are able to expand the range of our humanity and our participation in the world. My approach is grounded in brief psychodynamic models of treatment. I believe that therapy can help make us conscious of the adjustments we have made to cope with our life circumstances and can shine a light on new possibilities towards greater authenticity. I continually seek to improve my own utility as a therapist, and I read voraciously towards that end. My understanding of psychology, sociology, and social work provide not only a foundation for understanding client struggles, but also a basis from which to conceptualize growth and solutions.
