Therapists for college students near Temple University
Put your mental health first. Many times in the past, I have got so caught up with multiple responsibilities, that I stopped caring well for myself, which hindered my ability to meet my responsibilities. I have found it necessary, at those times, to cut back and turn my attention to self-care. Whatever difficulty you may be facing, academic, relationships, or emotional, I encourage you to get help. The sooner you address it, the easier it is to correct. The treatment approach will depend upon your needs. If you have an addiction, or similar behavioral problem, Motivational Interviewing is the best evidence-based approach. If it is PTSD, EMDR. I am eclectic, using the SAMHSA.gov best practice recommendations for the treatment of trauma, addictions, anxieties, and mood disorders. See my website for more information.
The Anxiety and OCD Treatment Center of Philadelphia (AOTCP) specializes in providing compassionate and effective treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and various anxiety disorders. We work with many anxious students in the area, providing tailored therapy to address a spectrum of OCD and anxiety related disorders commonly experienced by students. In addition to OCD and generalized anxiety, we help with related challenges such as test/performance anxiety, social anxiety and social skill impairments, maladaptive perfectionism, executive functioning difficulties, and other forms of neurodiversity. We use evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help students manage their symptoms and relate to their emotions differently, ultimately helping them more deeply engage in college life.
Angelique work stems from a social justice lens; putting our lives into the context of society, for better or worse. She is LGBTQIA+ and gender-affirming. She believes that multicultural awareness is a must rather than an afterthought. While starting therapy can seem intimidating or daunting, Angelique wants you to know that you always deserve a seat in the therapy room or video call. She specializes in working with clients who are new to therapy by creating a safe space free from judgment. She aims to help clients uncover the strengths they already possess. She often helps clients explore their intersecting identities and navigate life's complications: life transitions, new identities, and different understandings of the world or ourselves. Together, you and Angelique will explore which therapeutic approaches are the best fit for you. She utilizes a strengths-based approach, regularly drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Relational-Cultural Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She strongly believes that whether a problem is new or old, there is always an opportunity for growth and a new perspective.
You may be feeling that what you find anxiety-provoking, maddening, and depressing keeps appearing in your life. Without having an awareness of your unconscious processes, your deepest fears will continue manifesting in your relationships, friendships, work, and hobbies. Jared specializes in a range of techniques to bring compassion, confidence, and courage to exploration of the stories that generate daily experience. For Jared, committing to a non-pathologizing, psychodynamic approach means finding the thrill of meaning in every stuck point. The framing of therapy as an effort of "illness management" and "symptom control" is not only disheartening, it is ineffective. Specializing in addiction has led Jared to an understanding of the gift in any experience, even when it seems to be unambiguously bad, wrong, and destructive. The holistic perspective dictates that our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical reactions are always wise. Conversations with Jared reveal hidden personality parts that have long yearned for knowledge of and conversation with your highest Self. He is a devoted guide to all the corners of your cognition and character, excited to bring your desires to light and share with you how to embrace everything you are and have.

I specialize in working with fat identified folks who are in recovery and healing from fatphobic familial and cultural structures. I have additional interests in working with people coming into queer and trans identities later in life, intergenerational and ancestral trauma, as well as religious and spiritual trauma.

Hi, I'm Abby! After working as a therapist at a group practice for a couple of years, I became passionate about building my own practice where I get to work solely with young adults navigating the challenges of coming-of-age. I am committed to staying up-to-date on the latest research and techniques in the field of mental health so that I can provide you with the best possible care. A little about me: I attended Saint Joseph's University for undergraduate school and Villanova University for graduate school. I have been living in Philadelphia for over 10 years, and I have over 4 years of experience working with teenagers, college students, and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, school stressors, self-esteem, life transitions and more. Whether you're navigating life transitions or managing overwhelming emotions, I am here to empower you with practical tools and insights to thrive in every aspect of your life journey. Going to college may feel like it is supposed to be one of the most exciting times in your life. Leaving home, starting an independent life and creating connections with people from all over the world sounds great, right? But, it is also one of the more challenging times in life from a developmental stance. Family relations feel different, making friends can be challenging in a larger setting, academics are rigorous and there is a struggle to know who you 'really are.' On top of that, differences between you and others on identity dimensions can have you re-examining where you fit into the larger world around you. I am here to help guide you through this time so that you can work through unpleasant feelings while simultaneously feeling more confident in the person you are becoming and wish to be.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” -Viktor Frankl Hello! I'm Kaylie (she/they). As a queer clinician, I am dedicated to providing a safe and affirming space for identity exploration, navigating coming out, and validating your queer experiences. Supporting the LGBT+ community is a central motivation for my career as a therapist. I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety and depression, and I focus on supporting neurodiverse populations, including those with autism and ADHD. My goal is to help clients develop skills to navigate their environments and offer a supportive space to address the challenges they face in a world that may not always accommodate their needs. I believe that the therapeutic alliance is the cornerstone of effective therapy. Building trust and rapport is essential, and I strive to make this process both approachable and relevant to your everyday life. Recognizing that therapy can sometimes feel intimidating, I am committed to creating an environment where you feel comfortable and understood. My approach ensures that our sessions are engaging and that therapeutic concepts are seamlessly integrated into real-world applications. Many of my patients are people with multicultural/multiracial families and relationships, immigrants or the adult children of immigrants, people of Asian descent, graduate students, clinicians, or people who still feel empty and unsatisfied after achieving conventional hallmarks of success. Many have experienced shifts in class and/or religious identity who are looking to more deeply understand how their experience of depression, anxiety, or trauma is tied to these transgenerational and cross-cultural forces. With empathy and care, I will partner with you to explore your life, history, culture(s), and the wider world to see how these shape your inner experiences and relationships. In addition to feeling better, my hope is to help you to discover and create new ways of being in the world that feel more alive, flexible, authentic, resilient, and effective. Many people have mixed feelings about starting therapy and finding the right fit is so important for meaningful and long-lasting changes. If this profile has resonated with you in some way, there are no fees or commitments for the initial consultation. If you'd like to meet and learn more, please reach out today or visit my website.

I’ve experienced my own struggles with self-esteem, mental health, & relationship issues. These experiences have shaped me into a therapist who is empathetic, practical, & down-to-earth. I know the path to self-improvement & rebuilding your relationships can be challenging. Let me help you understand yourself and/or your partner more by identifying your "WHY", meaning why you think, behave, and react the way you do based off of attachment, communication styles, past relationships, etc. Don't be afraid to take a chance on you and/or your partner. Let's create those meaningful changes and new memories together.
I work best with students who feel a lot—sometimes all at once—and aren’t sure where to put it. You might be dealing with anxiety, identity questions, relationship stress, or the pressure to keep everything together while quietly struggling inside. If you’re queer or exploring your identity, you’ll find a space here where you don’t have to explain or defend who you are. And if you’re looking for a therapist who is warm, collaborative, and open-minded, this might be a good fit. Please reach out!
