Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
Hi, I’m Dr. Ed Delgado-Romero —psychologist, father, professor, and lifelong advocate for social justice in higher education and mental health. For nearly 30 years, I’ve dedicated my career to breaking down barriers—especially for those who’ve been marginalized, dismissed, or treated as “other.” Whether in my work as a counseling center psychologist, a university professor, or a mentor to the next generation of culturally responsive therapists, my passion has remained the same: to help people feel seen, supported, and empowered in spaces that haven’t always welcomed them. In therapy, I believe that a healthy process leads to healthy outcomes. It can be hard to thrive when you’re constantly navigating invalidating or oppressive environments. I work alongside my clients to help them reconnect with their sense of purpose, rediscover inspiration, and reclaim their idealism—even when cynicism or burnout starts to creep in. I also believe deeply in the transformative power of therapy because I’ve experienced it myself. Like many, I hesitated to ask for help at first, but the support of trusted therapists truly changed my life. That’s why I bring warmth, honesty, and authenticity into the room. I understand the stigma some folks carry about therapy, and I honor the strength it takes to show up. I’m continually inspired by my clients’ resilience, insight, and creativity.

Are you stuck in constant worry, feeling mentally drained, or unsure how to slow down your thoughts? Struggling after a traumatic experience? Carrying grief from a loss—including the loss of a beloved pet—and feeling like others don’t fully understand? These challenges can make it hard to focus, stay motivated, and feel like yourself. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, past experiences, or uncertainty about your future, therapy can be a space to reset, heal, and gain clarity. I’m here to support you as you navigate life’s challenges and build the tools you need to move forward with confidence. My name is Ebony Yelder (she/her/hers), and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in counseling and psychiatric services. I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including behavioral health hospitals, outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, in-home therapy, and with the Department of Defense supporting service members and their families. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, supportive, and centered around your unique experiences. Together, we’ll identify your strengths, work through what’s holding you back, and create a path toward greater balance, growth, and well-being.
I am a Certified College and University counselor who enjoys working with young adults. I am passionate about the work I do, and believe I can help my clients beyond managing crisis towards a life worth living, that is, a life that you look forward to every day.
I bring a warm and steady presence, a gentle sense of humor, and a genuine curiosity about your story to sessions. We will start where you are, and can work collaboratively to help you find meaningful change. The therapeutic relationship is essential in taking vulnerable and challenging steps in therapy, and this principle is at the heart of my practice with each person. I can incorporate Narrative Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (Parts Work), nature, and writing into sessions depending on your needs and interests.
I have experience in working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and school stress. I spent more than two years working at Cornell's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), which provided me with deep knowledge of the ins and outs of their mental health system, along with the pressures that one can face at college in regard to competition, academic stress, and building social connection. Being from upstate NY, I also understand some of the isolative parts of the experience, and adjustment to the uniqueness of the region. I am grateful to have a chance to share this experience and apply it to the therapy space. I gather inspiration from a variety of backgrounds and techniques, and use an eclectic style in therapy. It is extremely important that there is a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings. I have found that individuals have a great deal of success when we work on the relationship between their thoughts and emotions. I encourage you to reach out if you want to talk more about the specifics of what therapy could look like, and to have a conversation about how to improve your life and reach your goals.
