Therapists for college students near 02139
I think of this work as a combination of life coaching and therapy. We will focus on your day to day life challenges, noticing the patterns that lead to success as well as those patterns that get in your way. While doing this we can strengthen and celebrate what is working, become aware of patterns that are not working and create new patterns resulting in a better life. In my practice we can do both in-person and/or Telehealth. If we are to meet in-person I like to meet you where you are at literally and figuratively. I do not see people in an office. In my time as a clinician I have learned that some of the best work is done on a walk or a drive, while at a coffee shop or some other cool place that you know. Give me a call and see if I feel like a good fit.
Together we process experiences of loss, trauma, and relationship difficulties. My clients come seeking the opportunity to learn more about themselves. Therapy provides a space for connection to self & to discover your full potential. We explore what is important in your life. I bring a sense of warmth, humor and an anti-oppression framework in providing trauma-informed therapy. I believe trauma, historical contexts, oppression, bias, and privilege are in the mix with us in our life journey. I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals & a fuller, richer & more meaningful life. To learn more, visit jocelyneve.com. I work with people who hold a wide array of complex identities and in particular with those who are LGBTQ+ identified. I am committed to the field of domestic violence/intimate partner violence. I am trained to help clients develop healthy relational styles and skills that lead to an increased sense of connection and security and feeling understood. Many come to therapy wondering if their experiences are "normal." While it can be reassuring to know you are not alone, it is empowering to choose your own path. I can help you understand past relationship patterns & learned strategies for self-protection & the ways in which these methods of self-protection may interfere with your relationships today.
As a therapist, I aim to be as authentic, supportive, and direct as possible; helping you to work on the obstacles standing in the way of reaching your goals. Sometimes this simply means experiencing an accepting and validating environment otherwise unavailable. Alternatively, this may consist of having an emotionally safe space to communicate with your partner or family. My approach depends on your goals for our work together and what degree of challenge you feel ready for. Conflict or connection, I am here to support you. Feedback I've received from clients typically includes comments along the lines of, "You aren't the type of therapist who just sits back and listens for an hour, but who gets me to consider things I hadn't thought of, helped me to figure myself out- what I really want, need, and how to deal". I truly enjoy helping my clients to gain a better understanding of themselves, identifying and building their strengths, and supporting them through difficult times. You may perceive an upsetting event as a minute issue or a monstrous crisis based on how others view it. My perspective however, rests on the impact and significance an experience holds for you. Life is challenging, especially when you are attempting to juggle school, work, relationships and unexpected life events. Reach out. A simple talk will help you determine if I can be of support.

College can be an exciting time of growth, but it also brings unique pressures and challenges. Whether you’re navigating relationships, academic stress, identity questions, family dynamics, or the impact of trauma or loss, therapy can be a place to reflect, process, and move forward. I provide psychotherapy with a focus on resilience—helping you build on your strengths while exploring the experiences and emotions that may be holding you back. I also prescribe medications when appropriate, integrating therapy and medication to support your overall well-being. My approach is collaborative, warm, and grounded in humanistic and relational values. I’ve worked extensively with students and young adults, and I understand how transitional this stage of life can be. Therapy can help you understand yourself more deeply, cope with emotional challenges, and create meaningful change in your personal, academic, and professional life. My office is conveniently located just a short walk from the Red Line at Central Square, and easily accessible by bus. If you’re curious about starting therapy or wondering whether medication might be helpful, I’d be happy to talk with you about the next steps.

Welcome! Working with young adults is a specialty of my practice. I have helped endless university students navigate the very specific issues that come up during this time. Therapy can be a wonderful way to deepen your understanding of the ways in which you view yourself and your experiences. Having a meaningful life with purpose and promise is something we all strive for. As your therapist I will support you in developing goals and strategies that help you attain the things you want and form a more compassionate, loving view of yourself. I utilize a collaborative approach that is individually tailored to honor the complexity that each person brings to the counseling relationship. We will work to examine core beliefs you have about yourself and how these affect your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Additionally I have seen the benefits in utilizing mindfulness based therapeutic approaches to help develop awareness and acceptance of our life circumstances. Setbacks happen. When they do, how do you use this information? We choose to view adverse experience as a way to help us move forward more positively or as confirmation that things never seem to work out for us. This is an example of a perceptual shift we might work on. Everything that happens within the counseling relationship is on your terms as the Client. I will always honor your wisdom and help you tap into a decision making process that aligns with your core values. Please contact me for a free consultation to discuss your mental health needs and to determine if we are a good fit. During these stressful and uncertain times, therapy can be a much needed support. I treat individuals 18 and up.
Often, a significant source of suffering lies in thoughts and feelings that exist outside of our awareness and have not yet been able to find full expression. Psychotherapy offers the unusual opportunity to be listened to deeply and to learn to listen to ourselves in new ways. Exploring and developing insight into your inner life can lead to change—feeling better about yourself, shifting seemingly intractable patterns that have kept you stuck, and developing a greater sense of agency and fulfillment in your life. My practice provides a safe setting in which this exploration can unfold. I'll work collaboratively with you to help you make sense of distressing feelings and thoughts, gain insight into your experiences, and develop a more authentic relationship to yourself and to the world. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and my work is influenced by psychoanalytic and trauma-informed approaches. I see adults and specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and relationship difficulties. You can read more about my practice on Psychology Today: https://www.psychologytoday.com/profile/795370
