Therapists for college students near Temple University
College can be a time of fun and excitement, but it can also be a time of stress and anxiety. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist here at Village Therapy Practice, LLC who works hard to help clients (individuals, couples, and families) feel heard, understood, and validated. Using a systemic approach, I help each of my clients identify the underlying root cause of their struggles- such as depression, anxiety, adjustment, or relationship issues- and work to change the unhealthy patterns that keep them stuck in conflict. As a Penn State graduate myself (We Are!), I would love the opportunity to walk along students through this important journey!

Dee takes a systemic approach to her work with individuals, couples, and families. Dee also works with clergy and is able to coach or offer systemic supervision. The individuals I help on a daily basis experience anxiety, depression, nightmares, issues with controlling their substance use, and difficulties building and maintaining meaningful relationships. The majority of the individuals I work with have experienced physical, verbal, or sexual abuse, neglect, and/or have gone through adversities and overwhelming experiences that have left a lasting impact on them. Events affect us all differently, if you feel like you are exhausted with trying to manage uncomfortable feelings alone, reach out and we can have a conversation about how our work may be able to give you the relief you have been hoping for. I look forward to hearing from you!

I am a lover of liminal spaces. To me, the liminal, the “in-between”, is a space of great possibility. It lies at the edge of certainty and uncertainty. It beckons us to drop what we think we know and be with what is actually present. My identities and life experiences give me a sense of being “in-between.” I’m a gender fluid, Puerto Rican person who grew up in the diaspora. I grew up in a military family and spent my childhood moving from place to place. As an adult, I continued to move, spending years living and working in the Pacific Islands and Latin America. I explore liminal spaces in my exploration of fiber art, as well as in my music. I love to create new combinations of seemingly opposing elements, whether that is an innovative way of weaving or creating a folksy version of a salsa song. As a therapist, my “in-between” experiences reinforce my belief that when we can stay present in the place of flux, of uncertainty, then change and transformation is possible. I have spent over 8 years providing somatic, present-moment focused, and intuitive psychotherapy to survivors of sexual violence, sexual abuse and individuals experiencing grief. I combine extensive training in Gestalt therapy, Internal Family Systems, psychedelic-assisted therapy and mindfulness-based interventions to aid clients in creating lives they love. My activism and commitment to social justice come to bear in years of experience in community mental health. I believe that personal healing is bound in collective healing, that we are all threads in the larger tapestry of life. Through my practice, I aim to empower individuals to invest in their wholeness, health, and joy, recognizing that we are all the medicine we need.

I offer holistic therapy to help students escape the veil of anxiety and live with authenticity. Students I work with struggle with complex emotions. Despite being intelligent, hard-working, and having a witty sense of humor, life isn’t all rainbows and sunshine. When they first come to see me, they are exhausted by the never ending loop of “what if” scenarios and often find themselves trying to be perfect or pretend that they "have it all together." If you’re ready to drop anxiety and find self-compassion, I'm your gal. We will work together in reclaiming your inner knowing, finding your voice, and living your most authentic life.
