Therapists for college students near Nashville, TN
I enjoy living in the corners and at the fringes of what stereotypical therapy might look like. It is important to me that those who are outcasts, quirky, different, neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and the marginalized feel heard. When we work together, I want you to feel like you matter (because you do). If you like the utilization of tarot and oracle cards, we can incorporate that. If you need resources on affirming places to practice spirituality, we can look at those. If you want to talk about kink communities and how to get involved with them, we can find them. Whatever works for you works for me, and I want to help you figure that out.
My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, and mindfulness. I have particular experience working with grief, identity exploration, chronic illness, spirituality, LGBTQ health, and women’s health. I also work with clients who feel disconnected from their purpose or who are navigating major shifts in their sense of self. Our work will begin with your story, and from there, we will collaboratively create a plan to address your goals. My aim is to help clients access their own wisdom, find relief from emotional distress, deepen self-awareness, and experience greater self-compassion. In addition to my work as a psychotherapist, I have worked as an interfaith hospital chaplain, supporting patients, families, and staff during moments of intense vulnerability and uncertainty. This experience informs my work, allowing me to hold space for life’s deepest questions and existential concerns. My approach to spirituality is non-prescriptive, honoring each person’s unique beliefs, values, and ways of making meaning.
My counseling style is warm and inviting. I believe in being completely non-judgmental, sensitive and compassionate. I want to start where you are wherever you are in your journey through different human experiences. My psychotherapy approach is a combination of cognitive-behavioral, motivational interviewing, interpersonal, solution focused and client centered. I enjoy working with individuals with traits and tendencies of attachment that manifests by way of questioning self-worth, feeling unworthy of love, fear that healthy relationships cannot exist, obsession with loss and difficulty moving forward, taking on others feelings and beliefs as your own, guilt/shame, inability to receive feedback without feelings of failure/rejection and experiencing confusion/seeking clarity around identity. In my down time, I love to relax and have a good time. For fun, I enjoy listening to music and singing, traveling, trying new restaurants and foods, reading, laughing and spending time with loved ones.

Welcome! I'm Dr. Chelsea. I understand that starting or continuing your college journey can be both exciting and challenging. At Next Level Care (NLC), we offer a supportive and confidential environment to help you navigate the emotional, social, and academic demands of college life. Whether you're a first-year student adjusting to a new environment or a returning student facing stress, anxiety, or life transitions, we support you on your path to success.
I work best with students who are trying to figure out who they are underneath all the expectations placed on them. You might be navigating shifts in your identity, exploring your gender or sexuality, or just feeling like an outsider looking for your people. If you often feel like you have to "perform" to fit in, or if you are struggling to build genuine connections while away at school, we will likely work well together.
Starting college is a huge transition, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed. Between new responsibilities, changes in relationships, and the pressure to figure out who you are and where you’re headed, it can feel like a lot. You might be dealing with anxiety, depression, stress from academic pressures, or even difficulties with peers or family. It’s a lot to juggle, and sometimes, it can feel isolating. I’ve had the privilege of working with many college students navigating these same challenges. Together, we’ll focus on strategies that help you manage stress, enhance your emotional well-being, and develop healthy coping skills. Whether you’re struggling with academic pressure, social anxiety, self-esteem, or simply figuring out your next steps, I’m here to help.
It’s not easy having feelings of “not belonging” and “not knowing how to fit in” – questioning “who am I” and “how can I be seen?” Wondering where your people are and then wondering “are these my people?” How to connect while allowing yourself to be vulnerable while allowing yourself to be safe while allowing yourself to experience the full experience of life … Mental / emotional health is a vital necessity for success in life; to be able to make clear decisions without doubt or fear or to practice compassion toward the self instead of letting insecurities take root or judging the self harshly. Symptoms of depression and anxiety can be debilitating and create interference in meeting daily demands – creating low motivation, low energy, a sense of excessive worry or irritability, struggling with concentration / focus or delaying making decisions; or becoming fearful of failing or of losing something valuable. My name is Laura, and I have over 25 years’ experience as a licensed mental health counselor; most of my focus has been on helping young adults make the transition from dependence to independence; to identify and support their own values and ideas for their own future. To assist the process of developing coping strategies to manage life and learning how to recognize and walk through emotional responses; I would like to be of assistance in helping you make the transition toward your mental health and recovery journey. I also have extensive experience in assisting individuals heal from traumatic events, to embrace a release from the emotional impact locked into the memories of the trauma. Providing an opportunity to allow the traumatic event to remain in the past and no longer interfere with your present. Please reach out to me via email or text me at 317-296-3279 if you have any questions and let's figure out how I may be of help to you.
Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.

You tell yourself you need a change or help, but you’ve been putting it off. Meanwhile, you’ve been missing out on things because you’ve locked yourself away, make up excuses not to follow through with plans, tell yourself you won’t have fun, or you don’t want to ruin anyone else’s good time. It’s time for you to continue on the journey you’ve started. You did the work to get yourself this far. Let’s take the next Spey together. It’s a new day, a new mindset, and it can be a start to change the things that’s not working for you. You can learn new strategies better insight, enhance skills, overcome habitual behaviors, create purposeful experiences, cope with feelings/emotions, be more organized, purposeful, intentional while building a more positive experiences and well-balanced experience that will allow you to flourish. You can have the support to better your circumstances, overcome challenges, grow, and make the necessary changes for a healthier, and productive experience.
